Bruno Zach The Abduction Of Europa Bronze on Marble.

In exquisite and titillating detail, this piece brings to life the famous story from Greek mythology of Europa being "abducted" by Zeus in the guise of a (rather well-hung) bull. The nude Europa is sultrily perched upon Zeus' back; tantalizingly playing with the cold-painted garland draped across his sinuous and muscular body. The artist, Bruno Zach was born in Zhitomir, Ukraine (then part of the Russian Empire) in 1891 and passed away in Vienna (then part of Nazi Germany) in 1945.
